![]() Of course there are other possibilities - phone ringeer is turned off or disconnected or set to ring to ground. When the phone rings, the higher voltage jumps the gap & causes a short - answering the phone (mysteriously). ![]() If it is in the house - one possibility is that there are bare wires close to each other, but not actually touching. If it does not ring it is an att problem - they should work back up stream to find it. If it rings, the problem is in the house wiring. Plug in a phone in the line jack & try calling in. When you pull the jack in the NID it disconnects the house. I Call It Like I See It, Simply a U-verse user, nothing - Do you have a NID? Even more confusing, we seem to have narrowed it down to people calling from landlines that are not getting through. We have only had Uverse a few days and are having a sporadic problem with our home phone not ringing even though callers said they heard ringing when they called. ![]()
